1 Dead after 3-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 80 [Richmond, CA]


Victim Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash near Hilltop Drive

RICHMOND, CA (October 3, 2022) – Early Wednesday, one victim was killed and two were hurt in a 3-vehicle accident on Interstate 80.

The incident occurred around 2:49 a.m., in the eastbound lanes of the freeway just east of Hilltop Drive.

For reasons under investigation, three vehicles collided in the area. In addition, first responders located one vehicle on its roof upon arrival.

Moreover, medics pronounced one victim dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported two more occupants to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.

Police issued a SigAlert around 3:05 a.m., while they temporarily closed the eastbound lanes during clearing and preliminary operations.

At this time, the cause of the 3-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 is still being investigated. Richmond officials urge anyone with information to reach the CHP Oakland station at 510-457-2875.
