SPARKS, NV (July 18, 2022) An unidentified rider sustained injuries Wednesday in a  motorcycle collision at Greg Street.

The crash took place in the afternoon of July 6th, along Greg Street just west of Stanford Way.

According to police, a suburban towing a cargo trailer tried to pull out of a driveway on the north side of Greg Street, made a U-turn, and turned into the path of an eastbound motorcycle.

The motorcycle rider was unable to avoid it and ended up beneath the trailer.

Responding paramedics rescued the rider and transported them to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His name has currently been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Meantime, the NHP stated that it is uncertain at this time if drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident, however, an active investigation is underway.

When driving, it is important to keep an eye out for motorcyclists. Check all your mirrors and blind spots for motorcycles before merging with traffic or changing lanes, especially at intersections. Also, allow more following distance when behind a motorcycle. This gives them more time to react or stop in case of an emergency. If you are riding a motorcycle, do not underestimate the bike’s speed. Use hand and turn signals when you change lane or turn. To increase visibility, wear brightly colored clothes and reflective tape. Create safer roads and save lives by abiding all traffic laws and observing safety precautions.
