Vehicle Accident on Highway 87 Left One Fatality, One Injured
SAN JOSE, CA (August 24, 2022) – On Friday, one person died and another was hospitalized after a traffic collision on Curtner Avenue.
The incident happened on August 5th, around 10:30 p.m. on northbound Highway 87, south of Curtner Avenue.
According to reports, an Acura was speeding along the highway when it collided with the edge of the guardrail for unknown reasons.
Furthermore, the initial collision caused the vehicle to overturn and re-enter the northbound lanes, where it was hit by several vehicles.
Responding officers found an 18-year-old passenger deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, medics transported the rear-seat passenger to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Authorities have not yet received any update on the victim’s current condition or identity.
Moreover, police closed the northbound lanes of the highway for several hours to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
At this time, officials did not consider drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the accident. However, an active investigation is currently underway.
