1 Killed in Wrong-Way Collision on 55 Freeway [Tustin, CA]


Driver Pronounced Dead after Head-On Crash on 5 Freeway

TUSTIN, CA (October 3, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, one person was killed in a wrong-way collision on the 55 Freeway.

The incident happened around 2:10 a.m., near the 5 Freeway on October 2nd.

According to reports, the collision involved a white Prius and a Subaru Outback. Investigators say the Prius driver was heading south in the northbound lanes. The Prius then struck the northbound Subaru head-on.

Medics arrived shortly after and pronounced one of the drivers dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

Meanwhile, the freeway was blocked for about three hours for cleanup duties and was reopened since. No further information was provided by the officials and an investigation is ongoing.
