79-Year-Old Woman Dead after Head-On Collision near Apple Road

WILTON, CA (July 29, 2022) – Sunday morning, 79-year-old Arla Gustafson was killed and two were hurt in a head-on accident on Dillard Road.

The incident occurred around 9:14 a.m., between and Apple and Meiss Road. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after on July 24th.

Investigators say the collision involved a 2016 Toyota Corolla and a Hyundai. For reasons unknown, Gustafson was driving the Toyota and veered off the right shoulder and struck the Hyundai.

Upon impact, Gustafson and the Hyundai driver were trapped inside their vehicle, while a 12-year-old boy was able to extricate himself.

Paramedics arrived and rushed Gustafson, who suffered injuries, to Kaiser South Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Meanwhile, CHP said that drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. However, further investigations are still underway.
