27-Year-Old Pedestrian Died in a Crash on Ventura (134) Freeway
EAGLE ROCK, CA (July 21, 2022) – Sunday night, police received a report of a pedestrian crash that claimed the life of 27-year-old Chase Newton.
The incident occurred at around 11:38 p.m., on the 134 Freeway, just west of Figueroa Street.
According to reports, Newton was walking along the Ventura Freeway, when he was fatally struck by a grey Hyundai Veloster.
Officers arrived shortly after the report and found Newton dead at the scene. California Highway Patrol then closed down all eastbound lanes at Harvey Drive for investigation and cleanup.
At this time, the circumstances surrounding the car-on-pedestrian crash remain unclear. California Highway Patrol officials request that any witnesses to the incident please call local authorities as soon as possible.
