Pedestrian Collision along Highway 99 Hospitalized One Man
MODESTO, CA (October 19, 2022) – Saturday night, police were dispatched to a pedestrian crash were Christian Martinez was injured.
The incident happened on October 15th at around 9:30 p.m. on the southbound lanes oh Highway 99, north of Briggsmore Avenue.
According to police, officers responded to the scene and found 22-year-old Martinez lying on the highway with injuries.
Martinez was treated at the scene and was later transported to a nearby hospital for precautions, Modesto fire Department said.
Furthermore, 29-year-old Samuel Melo was identified as the driver of a 2017 Ford pickup that struck Martinez with a speed of 75 mph.
Police also stated that Martinez was on the west shoulder when he suddenly went into the traffic lanes, causing the accident.
Meanwhile, police have assessed Melo and he was not driving under the influence. No further details were added and an active investigation is ongoing.
