Father and Son Hit by Vehicle near Winterwood Boulevard
LAS VEGAS, NV (November 18, 2022) – Tuesday night, a DUI crash on Nellis Boulevard claimed the life of Christopher M Clarke.
The incident happened around 8:00 p.m. along Nellis Boulevard near Winterwood Boulevard. Authorities said the father and son were crossing the street when a speeding vehicle struck them.
According to reports, the driver, Justino Garcia-Avila, 32, who was suspected of driving while intoxicated, lost control of his vehicle and attempted to swerve but failed to avoid hitting the pedestrians.
Responding medics rushed the two victims to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where the 21-year-old son, Christopher M Clarke died from his injuries. While the 53-year-old father, Christopher H. Clarke suffered critical injuries.
Police eventually arrested Garcia-Avila on counts of reckless driving and DUI and booked him at the Clark County Detention Center.
