Cole Thayer Killed in Vehicle Crash along US 50 [Austin, NV]

22-Year-Old Man Killed in Traffic Accident near South Street

AUSTIN, NV (August 4, 2022) – Officers responded to a vehicle crash that claimed the life of Cole Thayer Friday afternoon.

The crash happened on July 29th, around 4:25 p.m., along US 50, involving a Ford pickup and a Freightliner tractor trailer.

According to NHP, the Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling at high speed and crashed head-on with the pickup.

Eventually, deputies arrived at the scene and found Thayer with serious injuries. 22-year-old Cole Thayer was later pronounced dead at the scene, despite the life-saving efforts of paramedics.

Additionally, the driver of the Freightliner was injured and transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

A large portion of the roadway was temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

Meanwhile, no other information is available at this time. Further investigations are still underway.
