Traffic Collision near Spreckels Boulevard Left One Fatality
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (August 17, 2022) – Saturday Evening, Daniel John Wetle was arrested following a fatal DUI crash on Highway 68.
The incident happened on August 13th, at around 6:10 p.m., on Highway 68 near Spreckels Boulevard.
According to California Highway Patrol, Wetle, in a black 2022 BMW, crossed the westbound lanes into the eastbound lanes and hit an eastbound red 2017 Toyota Camry. The head-on collision left the driver of the Camry and his passenger with serious injuries.
Dispatchers sent emergency crews to the site of the accident. After rendering first aid, medics pronounced the Camry driver, a 48-year-old man from Salinas, dead at the scene, and transported his passenger to a local hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, officers arrested 40-year-old Daniel John Wetle of Marina for suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
