2 Hurt, 1 Dead after Traffic Accident near Santa Lucia Road
LOMPOC, CA (October 3, 2022) – Wednesday, one child died and Eunice Perez De La Cruz and another child were injured in a crash on Highway 1.
The crash happened on September 28th, at about 7:57 a.m. along Highway 1, just south of Santa Lucia Road.
The incident happened as De La Cruz was driving along the highway, in 2002 GMC Envoy, when she made an unsafe turning movement. The unsafe turn caused the SUV to overturn and roll down. The SUV came to rest on its side. The rollover cause two children, one 10-year-old and one 8-year-old, to be ejected from the vehicle.
Responding medical personnel arrived and declared the 10-year-old child dead at the scene. Meanwhile, De La Cruz and the 8-year-old sustained injuries. Paramedics transported De La Cruz to Marian Regional Medical Center and airlifted the 8-year-old girl to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
