Fab the Duo Loves Green Day

Green Day

American Idiot (Reprise)

Fab the Duo Loves Green Day: Brendan Eprile of L.A. alt-pop two-piece Fab the Duo told us about his love for a Green Day classic.

Brendan Eprile: The first album that I ever bought– and the one that has most changed my life– is Green Day’s American Idiot.

This is the album that made me want to get into music and I don’t think I’d be where I am today without it. I love the activism in the lyrics and how the band isn’t afraid to get controversial and make a political statement. And the storyline is everything. It’s a perfectly-crafted rock opera and every song has its place within the story.

So often nowadays, there is such a focus on releasing singles that albums are forgotten about, but American Idiot proves how powerful an album as a body of work can be. Sure, there’s incredible stand alone hits in the album like “Holiday”, “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, and “Wake Me Up When September Ends”, but it’s the ways that the band digresses from the mainstream that truly exhibit their artistry.

With songs like “Jesus Of Suburbia”, Green Day completely uprooted the structure of a typical mainstream pop song, turning it into a 9-minute epic saga not heard of since the likes of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. And nothing’s more punk than that!

Fab the Duo Loves Green Day: Fab the Duo’s single “Alter Ego” is out now.
