DUI Crash near Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Left Woman Injured
SANTA CRUZ, CA (September 15, 2022) – Sunday morning, Gian Paul Cardona was arrested after an accident on San Lorenzo River Railroad Bridge.
The solo-vehicle crash occurred on September 4th, at around 5:19 a.m., after Cardona, in a red Toyota Prius, drove off a bridge near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
According to reports, Cardona was traveling at a high rate of speed and entered the railroad trestle from the west end. There he lost control of the vehicle and drove off the of the side of the bridge. The impact of the collision left his female passenger with serious injuries.
Medics airlifted the victim to an out-of-county trauma center for treatment of her wounds.
Officers then arrested 20-year-old Gian Paul Cardona on suspicion of DUI causing bodily harm. Authorities booked him at the Santa Cruz County Jail.
