Understand the limits of each
When you buy pallets, it’s important that you understand how much weight they can bear with ease. This way, you can then avoid overloading them which will then lead to increased risk of breakage. It’s also important to make sure that you buy pallet types that are designed in such a manner that they can withstand all the weight that you want to subject them to.
Use the right equipment to move them around
Using low quality pallet handling equipment will also result in increased rates of breakage. To avoid this, you should always make a point of insisting on using high quality ones, rather than simply any that you come across. These might be a bit more expensive than usual, but the fact that you will save on the cost of the pallets makes them worth it in the long run.
Use trained staff
The quality of training of your staff members in handling the pallets will also determine how long they last. You should therefore make a point of either employing handlers who have some experience with them, or training them to make them better at handling them.
Doing any or all the above will dramatically reduce the risk of pallet breakage, especially if this is something that you have to deal with regularly.
