27-Year-Old Woman Arrested after Fatal Traffic Crash near Interstate 5

SANTEE, CA (September 26, 2022) – Early Friday morning, Janet Mendoza was arrested following a fatal hit-and-run collision.

The incident happened on September 23rd when police noticed a blue Nissan Altima with front damage driving on Interstate 8, west of Interstate 5 at around 12:23 a.m.

According to authorities, they conducted a traffic stop on the driver of the Nissan near State Route 67.

Police later identified the driver as the 27-year-old Mendoza.

Furthermore, police found a body of a man at around 12:44 a.m. with signs of being struck by a vehicle on the southbound lanes of State Route 67, north of Woodside Avenue.

Following the crash, Mendoza was booked to Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility with charges of felony hit-and-run.

Meanwhile, the identity of the man was not yet released. Anyone with information about the crash was encouraged to call the El Cajon office at 619-401-2000.
