2 Killed in Pursuit Crash on Manchester Avenue
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 24, 2022) – Early Friday, Janisha Harris and Jamarae Keyes were killed in a red light crash on Broadway Street.
The incident took place near Manchester Avenue around 4:15 a.m.
According to reports, a vehicle was traveling at high rates of speed when officers attempted to perform a traffic stop. However, the driver failed to do so and a pursuit ensued.
Shortly after, the suspect vehicle sped through a red light on the westbound lanes of Manchester Avenue. There, the speeding vehicle struck a black sedan, occupied by Harris and Keyes.
Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 35-year-old Harris and 38-year-old Keyes dead at the scene.
Officers later found and took the three involved suspects into custody. However, authorities have not released their identities. Police are investigating to see if drugs or alcohol may have played a role.
