22-Year-Old Whittier Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident near 9th Street
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (November 11, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, John Castillo was killed in a pedestrian collision on Interstate 215. Officers responded to the scene around 3:57 a.m., just south of 9th Street on October 30th. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle hit the pedestrian in the northbound lanes of the freeway. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, authorities declared the male pedestrian dead at the scene. Police later identified the victim as 22-year-old Castillo, from Whittier. At this time, it remains unclear whether or not the involved driver remained at the scene.
