John Martinez Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Beach Boulevard [Huntington Beach, CA]


42-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near Ellis Avenue

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (August 25, 2022) – Monday night, John Martinez was pronounced dead after a pedestrian crash on Beach Boulevard.

Police responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m., just south of Ellis Avenue on August 22nd.

Investigators say a northbound black 2008 Toyota Camry struck Martinez as he was crossing Beach Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk.

Paramedics arrived and transported 42-year-old Woods to UCI Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Toyota driver was only described as a 42-year-old woman from Hemet. Authorities say she stayed at the scene and cooperated with the invetigation.

Crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup duties. Following preliminary investigations, impairment was not identified as the factor of the crash.
