Two-Car Crash on Interstate 8 left 9 people injured

SAN DIEGO, CA (October 14, 2022) – Monday afternoon, a crash on Interstate 8 left nine people, including Becky Coy and Julianna Coy, injured.

The collision happened around 3:49 p.m. on westbound Interstate 8, just west of Lake Murray Boulevard.

According to reports, Coy was driving a van carrying her eight children when another vehicle struck them. The impact of the collision left the occupants of the van with serious injuries.

Responding paramedics arrived and transported all 9 victims, one in critical condition, to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Police have only identified Becky Coy and her 10-year-old child, Julianna Coy, among the victims.

Meanwhile, the second driver escaped the crash unscathed. At this time, officials have not released further information about the collision on Interstate 8, however, an active investigation is underway.

The friends of the Coy family have set up a GoFundMe to support the medical costs of their injuries.
