57-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed, 27-Year-Old Involved in Accident near Jaime Obeso Sunbeam Rest Area
SEELEY, CA (August 9, 2022) – Friday afternoon, Luis Alonso Miramontes-Marquez was involved in a fatal pedestrian crash on Interstate 8.
The crash happened on August 5th, at around 1:23 p.m. near the Jaime Obeso Sunbeam Rest Area, when a pedestrian was hit by a truck.
According to reports, the box truck was driven by 27-year-old Miramontes-Marquez and the pedestrian was only identified as a 57-year-old man.
Apparently, the pedestrian was walking on the right side of the westbound lanes of the interstate when the accident occurred. Although the events leading up to the collision are still unknown.
Meanwhile, Imperial County Coroner’s Office took in the body of the pedestrian to be examined. The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
An active investigation is currently underway at this time.
