Hit-and-Run Collision near East Gowan Road Left One Fatality
LAS VEGAS, NV (July 25, 2022) – Saturday, police arrested Marc Anthony Olivas in connection with a fatal hit-and-run bicycle accident.
The collision occurred on July 9th, at about 2:30 a.m., near the intersection of North Pecos Road near East Gowan Road
According to North Las Vegas Police, a bicyclist was traveling northbound on the sidewalk of North Pecos Road when a pickup truck struck a light pole, then the bicyclist, before hitting a wall. The driver of the pickup truck drove off after the crash, without rendering aid to the victim.
Paramedics arrived at the incident shortly after and pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene.
Authorities are withholding the identity of the victim for the time being, pending notification of kin.
Officials later arrested 25-year-old Olivas and charged him with reckless driving, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, and driving without a valid license.
