Maricarmen Leon Dead, Briana Day Arrested after DUI Collision on Pine Street [Walnut Creek, CA]


One Dead, One Injured in Pedestrian Crash near North Main Street

WALNUT CREEK, CA (August 8, 2022) – Saturday morning, police arrested Briana Day after a crash on Pine Street that killed Maricarmen Leon.

The incident happened on July 30th, at around 2:00 a.m. along North Main Street and Pine Street.

According to reports, Leon was standing on the sidewalk with her friends when a pickup truck jumped up the curb and struck them before crashing into a cement pillar. The impact of the collision left Leon and a male companion with major injuries.

Upon arriving at the site of the incident, emergency personnel rendered first aid. However, they were unable to revive 27-year-old Leon and pronounced her dead at the scene. They then transported the male victim to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Authorities are currently withholding the name of the injured victim.

Police later arrested the driver of the pickup truck, 28-year-old Day of Concord, on suspicion of DUI.

The family and friends of Leon made a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses.
