Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Ended in Car Collision on near Decatur Avenue
LAS VEGAS, NV (November 11, 2022) – Police arrested Mario Anthony Estrada after a stolen car pursuit ended in a crash on Cheyenne Avenue Monday.
Officers responded in the 4700 block of West Cheyenne Avenue around 8:25 p.m.
According to the NSP, they received a report of someone stealing a van with two kids inside.
The mother of the kids ran after the van on foot and the suspect eventually pulled over and let the kids out of the car on Decatur Avenue and fled with the vehicle.
At the same time, an NLVPD traffic officer saw the van getting onto I-15 southbound from Cheyenne Avenue and started a pursuit.
The suspect did not stop until he crashed into another car near I-15 and Charleston Boulevard and then fled on foot. Police later found the suspect and took him into custody before transporting to a nearby hospital for assessment.
Authorities then identified the suspect as Mario Anthony Estrada, 38 and charged him with multiple charges including reckless driving, second degree kidnapping, first degree child abuse/neglect and many more.
The mother and the two kids did not sustain any injuries from the incident. More information will be release once they become available.
