The accident happened in the 3600 block of 54th Street outside a crosswalk, per initial reports.
Furthermore, police said a 33-year-old driver in a southbound 2003 Mercury Mountaineer struck the pedestrian while traveling in the No. 2 lane on 54th Street.
San Diego Officials stated the man ran in front of the vehicle, for reasons unknown, leaving him with serious injuries.
