One Injured in Pedestrian Accident on Bardsley Avenue

TULARE, CA (July 22, 2022) – Friday, one pedestrian was hospitalized following a hit-and-run on Kern Avenue.

The incident happened on July 8th, near the intersection of Bardsley Avenue and K Street.

Authorities noticed a black Jeep that was speeding in the area. After being spotted speeding for the third time on Kern Avenue and R street, officers attempted to pull the Jeep over.

Instead of complying with the traffic stop, the Jeep driver made a U-turn, causing the officer to lose sight of the suspect. From there, the Jeep ran through some road barriers and struck a pedestrian that was attending an event, before fleeing the scene.

As a result of the impact, the pedestrian sustained serious injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Afterward, authorities located the suspect’s vehicle in a field near Martin Luther King Avenue and K Street.

At this time an active investigation is underway. Tulare officials encourage those with further information about the hit-and-run on Kern Avenue to contact authorities as soon as possible.

As a driver, maintain focus on the road and avoid dangerous distractions. As a pedestrian, stay within a marked crosswalk wherever possible and avoid jaywalking. By doing so, you can help keep yourself and others around you safe.
