Head-On Crash on Interstate 5 Left Two Fatalities

LOST HILLS, CA (July 18, 2022) – Monday morning, a big-rig crash on interstate 5 killed Ricardo Gomez Perez and Manuel Velasquez Garcia.

According to Caltrans, a multiple big-rig collision was reported around 3:29 a.m.

Kern County Officials state that Ricardo Gomez Perez was driving a semi-truck southbound, when another semi-truck, driven by Manuel Velasquez Garcia, crossed the median and collided with Perez’s truck head-on. The impact of the crash left both men with fatal injuries.

Due to the extent of their wounds, both men died shortly after the incident.

Kern County coroner’s office identified the two victims as Ricardo Gomez Perez 55-year-old from Healdsburg and Manuel Velasquez Garcia 44-year-old from Montclair.
