Atwater Village and Walt Disney’s beloved steakhouse, Tam O’ Shanter, officially turns 100 this month and will be culminating months of celebrations with a six-course centennial meal on Sunday, July 17.
Hosted by L.A. Weekly’s own Food Editor Michele Stueven and cultural historian Peter Moruzzi, the $249 per person dinner will feature different dishes from various eras of the restaurant’s historic past.
The nostalgic evening will include Scotch Rarebit, deviled beef ribs, Crab Louie, Spaghetti Annie Lawry, classic Dover Sole, Lawry’s prime rib with Yorkshire pudding, creamed corn and spinach, with Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert.
Bartender Enrique Rosas, who oversees the selection of 665 different whiskeys and has been at the Tam for more than 40 years, will be curating the cocktails.
The Tam O’ Shanter has remained in the same family, now owned by fourth-generation Ryan O’Melveny Wilson, CEO of Lawry’s Restaurants Inc. and great-grandson of founder Lawrence Frank. The family of restaurants also includes Lawry’s The Prime Rib in Beverly HIlls, Five Crowns and The Side Door in Corona del Mar.
