Black Girl Sunscreen (BGS) recently partnered with and hosted an event at the University of Southern California. The event was held on the 10th of September on the USC Colich Track & Field Rooftop Deck and even featured a scholarship program for one of the USC athletics team members.
This aspiring and rising brand aims to give back to the community by teaching younger generations the importance of taking care of their skin and protecting it from the sun. In addition to their fantastic products and educational workshops, the Black Girl Sunscreen brand presented a $2500 scholarship as part of their cooperation with the University of Southern California’s Athletics team.
Bringing consciousness to younger generations, and, in this case, the women’s track and field team at USC, regarding the importance of daily sunscreen appliances, especially for sports people who are out on the field during the day is the focus of BGS. With constant sunscreen appliances, the skin becomes protected from UVA and UVB rays, which can harm and potentially lead to major health problems, such as skin cancer.
This whole cooperation between the University of Southern California’s Athletics team and the Black Girl Sunscreen brand has even been supported by many popular influencers. One of the BGS’ goals is to empower young black women and show them how becoming successful businesswomen is possible. Jordyn Woods was one of the most popular influencers that attended this event. She currently has 12.6 million followers on Instagram, which makes her a very reliable woman with lots of knowledge about influential businesses and social media. Jordyn spoke and gave many pieces of advice to USC’s women’s track team on how to pursue their goals and reach for the stars. Additionally, several USC alumni and former Olympians attended including Head Coach Quincy Watts, Assistant Coach Joanna Hayes, Carmelita Jeter, and Me’Lisa Barber.
The event and cooperation hosted by a black-woman-owned company inspired and supported many young ladies to thrive and make their dreams come true. Besides the scholarships, this brand even provided the university with sunscreen products from their own line that will help encourage all young people to use sunscreen daily, all year round.
Being a very self-conscious brand, BGS aims to educate everyone on the importance of sunscreen usage and proper skin care. Stating that many black people have neglected proper skincare, let alone the usage of sunscreen for their skin type, this brand aims to change that in the beauty and cosmetics industry, and as it seems, they are on the verge of succeeding. BGS is one of the leading brands, and as such, it has a significant impact not only on the world as a whole but also on the younger generations. As a result, it will continue to carry out its own mission in order to demonstrate how much this brand can accomplish and how much of an impact it can have on society.
