Semi-Truck Collision on State Route 86 Kills Victor Manuel Marmulejo-Caurenta and Four Others
THERMAL, CA (January 30, 2023) – Saturday night, Victor Manuel Marmulejo-Caurenta and four others died after a semi-truck crash.
The incident happened on January 14th, at around 5:15 p.m., near the intersection of 81st Avenue and State Route 86.
According to reports, five people were riding in a Volkswagen Jetta. For reasons currently unknown, their vehicle traveled into the path of a semi-truck. The semi-truck then collided with the Jetta trapping all five occupants in the sedan.
First responders extricated the victims from the wreck. However, medics pronounced all five people dead at the scene.
Riverside County Coroners identified the deceased victims as 23-year-old Hernan Montes-Hernandez, of Palm Springs; 26-year-old Alexis Xiomara Felix-Reyes, of Thermal; 24-year-old Victor Manuel Marmulejo-Caurenta, of Coachella; 7-year-old Matteo Emmanuel Robledo-Felix, of Thermal; and 6-year-old Ariadne Isabella Robledo-Felix, of Thermal.
Meanwhile, GoFundMe pages have been set up for Matteo Emmanuel Robledo-Felix and Ariadne Isabella Robledo-Felix; and Hernan Montes-Hernandez, to support their funeral costs.
