Woman Fatally Struck in Electric Bicycle Accident near Valley Street

CARLSBAD, CA (August 8, 2022) – Sunday evening, a woman sustained fatal injuries in an e-bicycle accident on Basswood Avenue.

The incident occurred on August 7th, at around 5:45 p.m., near the intersection of Basswood Avenue and Valley Street.

According to the reports, a woman was riding an e-bike with her 1-year-old child when they were struck by a Toyota SUV.

Emergency response was then dispatched to the area and medics transported the 35-year-old female cyclist and the her 16-month-old girl to a local hospital. Although, the child was unharmed, the woman sustained critical injuries and died at the hospital on Monday.

Meanwhile, the 42-year-old female driver of a Toyota 4-Runner involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

At this time, San Diego police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash on Basswood Avenue.
