Driver Dead after Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 15 near Bailey Road

MOUNTAIN PASS, CA (October 24, 2022) – Tuesday morning, one driver was killed following a wrong-way crash on Interstate 15. The incident happened at approximately 7:45 a.m., on October 18th, on the southbound lanes of I-15, between Bailey Road and Nipton Road. According to reports, a Toyota Camry heading northbound in the southbound lanes when it collided head-on with a pickup truck. The Camry also caused another vehicle to be damaged. San Bernardino deputies arrived at the scene shortly after and requested a medical helicopter to transported the man who was driving the pickup to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. Meanwhile, the Toyota driver was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts. The occupants of the second involved vehicle were not injured. At this time, the events leading up to the wrong-way crash on Interstate 15 have not yet been determined and the investigation is being handled by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office.
