Zion McKenzie Arrested after Hit-and-Run on Pacific Coast Highway [Huntington Beach, CA]


Driver Arrested Following Traffic Accident near Newland Street

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (October 31, 2022) – Thursday at noon, police arrested Zion McKenzie after a pursuit crash on Pacific Coast Highway.

Officials said that the incident happened on October 20th, along Pacific Coast Highway near Newland Street.

According to the reports, McKenzie was seen to be driving recklessly, north on Pacific Coast Highway. McKenzie reportedly drove through several red lights at high speeds.

A motorcycle officer then attempted to stop McKenzie, but he continued driving onward and started a chase with the police. However, due to McKenzie’s speed, authorities called off the chase and deployed a helicopter to track him down.

All the while, McKenzie collided with two other vehicles and fled on foot without helping the other vehicles’ occupants. McKenzie was apprehended by a campus officer, and was subsequently arrested by police.

Authorities eventually charged Zion McKenzie with a felony count of failing to stop after a hit-and-run accident, evading police, and reckless driving, as well as some misdemeanor counts.

At this time, local authorities have not released further information about the other injured parties involved, but they will post updates once they become available.
